I encoded the DivX with TMPGEnc and CCE and MainConcept...
3 times i get the same result...
i author the DVD with Maestro and...
when i try to play the DVD in a standalone player...
it shows "PLAY" instead time ex."00:34:45"...
definitely its NOT an encoding problem...
i believe im doing some mistake in the authoring at the TIMELNE tab...
im burning the authored files with Nero 5.5.10

When you import the video into Maestro what does it give for a time stamp?
What is the format of the video "mpeg1, mpeg2"?
There are a lot of variables here with the programs you are using.
A more specific process would be helpful. -
it shows "PLAY" instead time ex."00:34:45"...
What does the player do when you put the disc in; Press the Root menu button; press the title menu button? Did you set a 'first play' in the layout? Has your player accepted a DVD-R Video disc before? Does your player support DVD-R. Have you tried to play the disc in someone elses player? Will a software DVD player play the disc on your PC?
What format is the audio? What format/resolution is the video? Did you burn as a data disc in nero or as DVD Video disc? Did you delete the *.lay file from the folder?
There aren't too many mistakes you can make on the timeline in Maestro. -
the main thing is to make the DivX work with a TIMER!
the statment "it shows "PLAY" instead time ex."00:34:45" " means that i got a Pioneer DVD-R/RW A05 burner and when i try playing the burned DVD in my Panasonic DVD standalone player, it shows "PLAY" at the display instead the TIMER like "00:02:22" and i dont know how much time has passed of the movie when im watching it !!!
now... all the rest of the questions you asked are not important because they are all ok 100%... read below!
i got 3 movies:
1. Stuart Little 2 (DivX AVI file, 5channel audio)
2. Femme Fatale (DivX AVI file, 2channel audio) and
3. A TV captured movie with WinDVR(MPEG 1/2 DVD compliant 3500k/s)
i encoded all 3 files with 2 different encoders each... so i got 6 outputs...
1. first encoding with TMPGEnc and i was getting M2V and WAV files
2. second encoding with MainConcept and i got MPV and MPA files
i authored these files with 2 different softwares...
all these files are compliant with DVDMaestro and MyDVD...
i need subtitles so MyDVD is no good for me, i just used it to check where is my problem...
so DVDMaestro results with both (WMP/WMA and M2V/WAV) are:
1. Stuart gives PLAY (not good)
2. Femme gives PLAY (not good)
3. The TV captured gives TIMER (its GOOD and means DVDMaestro is not the problem... the only difference in the authoring was that this one had no chapters, the DivX-es were authored with chapters)
and MyDVD results with both (WMP/WMA and M2V/WAV) are:
1. Stuart gives TIMER (i think MyDVD is encoding the video once again and timestamps it because it takes too long transcoding before burning!)
2. The TV captured file also works ok and gives a TIMER
the only thing that i still got on my mind that i still havent tried is...
serve the DivX with VirtualDub and encode it with TMPGEnc...
im still all confused!!!!!!!!!!! -
I had this same situation with DVDIt. I discovered it was from changing the Chapter names from "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2", etc., to blahblah.
If you changed the chapter names, try changing them back. -
im not changing anything ini the names,
hmmm
if there is something about the chapters that might be causing troubles...
it mihgt be that im putting the start of the movie as the fist chapter in the chapter menu, but im not putting any chapter mark for it at the timeline
i dont know ill try that one too and ill let ya know -
Is all of the video DVD-spec mpeg2 with the same audio options? My new pioneer dv-346 will not display the timer for vcd or svcd video, but the video I author to DVD has been ok (all dvd-spec mpeg2 with ac3 audio).
To test this if you have a RW disc, try taking a short clip of each type of video and burning a simple menu and video clip test. Then in the same project, delete the one clip and use the other. If you get different results then this could be related to the video file itself (maybe something like the GOP, or other minor detail that is confusing the player). -
i found the trouble... but im not sure which of few things is cousing it...
definitely the movie time stamp is ok!
TMPGEnc is ok!
MainConcept is ok!
there was an error i was making in the authoring...
ill let you know very soon, htg at work now...
will check when i get back home... thank you GbMedusa!
thank you all of you guys that tried to help!
tty soon! -
i read some other manual about DVDMaestro...
not the one at www.doom9.org... i found it at google.com
the guy that made that manual...
under connection tab...
the "movie previous" and "movie next"...
the manual said that those action should be set...
to the start of the movie!!!
the manual said you need to add them so your...
standalone player's "back" and "forward" could work!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
thats whats making my TIMER turn to PLAY!
i was doing all ok, just...
ADDING THOSE DAMN ACTIONS I DIDNT NEED TO!!!
I SPENT ALMOST A WEEK FINDING THIS!!!!!!
@#$%@#$%@#$%@#$%@#$%
ok guys i guess this will be a lesson for the next one
