I created a "movie" from some .JPEG's using Windows Movie Maker 2.0. Saved it as "high quality NTSC". I want to convert this .WMV to MPEG-2 for an SVCD. Here is what I've done:
1. Using Stoik Video Converter, converted the .WMV to .AVI with Microsoft Video 1 compression, the audio I had earlier converted from .mp3 to .wav, thus selected PCM for the audio compressor to write to the .AVI. Under the video options I converted the frame rate to 29.97 fps.
2. Resulting .AVI was checked for quality {was acceptable}.
3. Loaded LSX Mpeg Encoder 3.5, loaded the .AVI, selected Mpeg-2 SVCD output, Interlace top-field-first, 480x480 29.97 fps bit rate 2500, svcd.
4. Approx 1/2 way through this conversion I get error from LSX about an unreadable frame. So I scanned the .AVI with Virt Dub, it found no bad frames.

So, is there something I did wrong? I'm very new to this subject, and I've read it can be difficult to convert .WMV to .AVI or Mpeg-2. Can anyone offer some advice or suggestions?

P.S When I use TMPGEnc to convert the AVI to Mpeg-2 the audio is terrible when played on my standalone DVD player.

Thanks to anyone who cares to offer some assistance.
