It sounds strange, but the media that I have had the most success with by far is the cheapest I have bought. Zero Defex (1x) disks cost me £0.59 each and I have burned 50ish so far without a single error, and they all play perfectly in both my DVD players (Pioneer DV350 and Cyberhome CH402).
I may just be paranoid but I think that considering the price of these, they must have a downside and I'm worried about their longevity. For normal movies etc that doesn't bother me because I can always backup the original again but I am very worried about losing DVDs that I've made of home videos which are priceless and irreplaceable.
Are there any recommendations for top quality DVD-R that I will buy specifically for home movies. I believe that Pioneer say that theirs will last 100 years, but what about other manufacturers? What sort of guarantees can you get if you don't mind paying for it?
One thing, I'm not bothered about speed issues at all because I will always burn these at 1x only.
Thanks in advance![]()

Verbatim retail DVD blank media has a lifetime warranty. So if your worried about DVD rot maybe Verbatims can inspire some confidence in the quality of their product to withstand oxidization.
Don't buy cheap media for family memories which are priceless
