I do the following:
1)Capture in Pinnacle 7
2)Edit in Pinnacle 7 and save to AVI
3)Render in Tmpgenc.
4)Author in Moviefactory 2
My problem is when I create chapters (in Movie Factory 2) using the slidebar (or jog bar). When I create an MPEG 2 (CBR) Standard NTSC, the bar slides like "butter". I can find my scenes with pretty good accuracy.
When I create an MPEG 2 (VBR) with Tmpgenc, Moviefactory recognizes it and I can create a DVD with good quality, but the jog bar slides like "cream cheese". There is a delay of about 5 seconds each time you slide it and it is virtually impossible to get to the exact scene you want to create a chapter.
I then tried a trial of CCE, created the same MPEG from the AVI file (the MPEG is about 4 gig). In CBR, works perfect. VBR, the slide bar sticks and difficult to create chapters.
I then tried the trial version of Workshop. Exact same results.
I then tried neodvd (which I regret ever buying) and the slidebar on that program works fine regardless of CBR or VBR.
I should also mention that when I play back the MPEG on Moviefactory 2, it is choppy (it plays fine on mediaplayer, and on my stand alone DVD player)
I have P4 1.6, 512 RAM, 200 Gig HD dedicated to video, 32 Meg ATI Rage fury video card. Has anyone had a simlar experience or has anyone had it actually work? I am looking very forward to any suggestions.
