  1. Hi all..

Can anyone point me to a program that may be able to edit out distorted sound in a avi (or mpeg file, I could edit it after conversion)

Got a few that have to be turned right down or it makes my ears bleed

    Thanks for any advice!

  2. you could try these:

    commercial products
soundforge - or one of sonic foundry's other app's
    cooledit

    shareware
    goldwave

    freeware
    audacity

however, if the audio on a video file is really that bad (camcorder in the cinema etc..), you probably won't be able to do much to improve it. you can't polish a turd!

    cheers,

    mcdruid.

  3. Cheers mate..

Have got cooledit, but when I open a file (any file that has been encoded with tmpeg) I get this message in the "show file information box"

    Unknown headerless RAW data

Do I need to get a plugin to support this type of file or somthing..

If I strip the audio into a seperate file, and rename it from mp2 to .wav, I can play it with my media player, and open it in cooledit... but it only opens as static

    Any ideas on that?

.... wanna try and get this turd a little more shiny

  4. i know what you mean!

i only really use soundforge and goldwave, so i'm not sure about cooledit i'm afraid.

it's strange if you can't play an mp2 that TMPGEnc has spat out in media player though...

one thought is that a lot of people reckon toolame does a much better job of VCD audio than TMPGEnc's internal encoder. you can download toolame (& its GUI if you want - see tools section of this site) and set TMPGEnc to use that as an external encoder.

To do this go to Option->Environmental Setting->Audio Engine in TMPGEnc.

Not sure what to suggest other than mate.

    Good luck with your polishing!

    mcdruid.
