  1. has anybody wrote a simple guide on doing a simple menu in maestro.

i have the m2v, ac3 and 4 chapter points in ready.
done a .bmp with text for my 4 buttons.
clicked menu and dragged the .bmp on and dragged over where i want the buttons, so i have 4 boxes with 1-4 in them.

what do you do now so the remote will navigate through them.

  2. When you go to "Edit Menu", you will be on the "Color Mapping" Tab. After highlighting your buttons. Go to "Buttons" tab and you will "Navigation"

Note: Just think the plus sign is a square.

You'll see something like that... Anyways -- When you highlighted the buttons on Maestro. Numbers were put on them... You said you did 4 buttons -- so there should be 1 2 3 4.

Let's say they are in this order:

    1
    2
    3
    4

So in the navigation screen you would put for #1 something like this:

    4
    blank blank
    2

    For #2:

    1
    blank blank
    3

And so on, I hope that helps you.

You can also create a more defined SUBPICTURE of the shape that you want your buttons to be. Create a separate page at 720x480 resolution, then put the button shapes (using pure RED) over your present button locations, then save that whole thing as SUBPICTURE.BMP. Drag this guy to the SUBPICTURE window in the menu screen. Then adjust the COLOR MAPPING so that the SUBPICTURE highlights to your satisfaction.

  4. Did u right click on the buttons to define their functions? Then look in the connections screen under Windows and you can see what each buttons function is?

Thanks to dhluke for attaching the picture above. If your buttons are properly defined (ie, "boxed" out) the button number will appear in the center window in the pic that is highlighted in pink. Just apply the navigation that you want in the other boxes on the periphery. I always use something like this:

    ______(n-1)
    ___(n-1)_n_(n+1)
    ______(n+1)

Of course, you also have to LINK the buttons to something.

For my previous response, you would drag the subpicture to the middle box in the PLAYBACK CONTROL windo.
