Fixed; problem where Near DVD and DivX (1 CD) options were switched
ADDED: Tooltips
ADDED: Default movie file name is now same as DVD disc title
ADDED: Scanning now returns number of titles in More window
faster mpeg encoding - limited testing YMMV

Excellent, thanks for making this an updater! Makes it easy for us poor saps with low bandwidth (not to mention easier to host). you might want to change the licence from freeware to honorware in the versiontracker description when you submit this update...
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté." -
Hi Kai,
I just read the progress report on your web page and I am very sorry to hear how things are going. I do have every intention of donating once I can figure out how to use the program to it's full capabilities. I have an issue selecting alternate audio tracks, like choosing a commentary. I do not know how to do that, and it does not seem so obvious to me. Once I figure this out, I will gladly donate. I just hope my donation is not made in vain.

well, this is good and bad I guess.
Good because I thought I was just being a fool and was going to be up all night trying to do something that can't be done.
Bad because I would love to see this feature added but I also understand how you must feel. There are a lot of ingrates (sp?) in the world. I am going to try not to be one of them. I am gonna try out a couple more discs over the next day or two, and if I am satisfied, I will gladly make a contribution.

P.S. Boy, would that alternate audio track addition be nice. -

I've said this *many* times. The primary reason why this isn't in already is because...wait for it...
It can cause your conversions to be out of sync!!!
(Ohhhh THAAATS why those always screwed up on me before)
Audio often has a target framerate too, and if they don't match...guess what?
Eh?
Bile and I talked a lot, and believe it or not *HE* was the one who put his foot down. He does not want to add *anything* that will either cause more confusion or clutter, or raise the failure rate.
His exact words (cutting and pasting here)
"this is the best f*ckin program i have on my mac and i dont wanna see it turn into afropic."
"something that DOESNT work and has endless options to choose from"
"i dont wanna add ANYTHING that MIGHT not work"
"the best thing we decided on was simplicity and something that works"
"not something that is a crapshoot"
Now...you might not know B like I do, but I have ta' tell ya...THAT was a sobering wake up call for me. Coming from him..."From the mouths of babes" action here.
That's what this whole thing was all about in the first place.
If it works, if its clear and easy, and if it makes trascoding easier for *normal, non-techy people* we will add it.
Things like the auto name fill-in in 1.01. Screw the manual! We're tossing that code out! Tooltips everywhere! 1 one page "Getting Started" for everyone! And a one page "What are these formats?" for everyone else.
Its too hard if you need more than that anyway
Got forty-two open already? Put in a dvd...we'll find it!
Yeah, this might not add more stuff to tweak (or go wrong) but you know what? Its nice stuff anyway
It's what forty-two is about. And if we get rich enought to afford personal round-the-clock psychotherapy and lawyers...we'll think about some of those other things too
