which filters should I use to capture from Vhs tapes? I capture a lot of WB shows and they all seem to be dark and then there is that tiny white dotted line at top of the capture screen. Then there is also the blurry bit at the bottom. also once i add the filters, what options do I check on them?

    Hi

Does your capture card let you adjust the brightness ?, quite a lot of them have adjustments for contras, RGB and brightness. Better to adjust it if you can, adding filters to a bad picture can not improve them much, and the conversion time will go up.

Also there is a crop filter, maybe if your top and bottom problems are right on the edge you could crop them out.

There is a brightness/contras filter for Vdub, don't know if it came with it or I downloaded it from the Vdub/filter site.

Click filters > Add to see what you got

Also try a capture with more/less colours 16 bit/24 bit etc

i have a wintv go card. i can adjust brightness, but how do I fix the blur at the bottom edge though? I use the warp sharp filter to get rid of the lines at the top edge, but how about the bottom?

    Hi

I also have a wintv (Don't know what the "Go" is) does not say that on my book cover. described as a winTV PCI

Anyway, I have seen that line also when I used a particular codec, I forget which one it was. I just tried it with DivX and its ok. Have you tried different codec's ?

Also I have installed the new WinTV program and a lot of other things from http://www.hauppauge.com do you have the latest software installed ?

    http://www.hauppauge.com/html/avi_cap.htm
    Shows some more useful information.

Go through your codec's if you are using them I can't capture at full frames in 320 X 240..

That funny, I just tried uncompressed and it seams to work, maybe those new drivers etc have cured the problem, but the AVI is huge

Don't know what else it could be, interference?
