I'm wanting to take a LOTR: Two Towers Xvid and encode to an SVCD using TMPGEnc. After I finish encoding the Xvid to SVCD I will use the vcd header trick to multiplex it and make my dvd player to think its a vcd instead of svcd. I want the best results so tips would be great.
Problems I've encountered while experimenting:
-----------------------------------------------
1.) While playing back movie in SVCD format I find the framerate isnt as smooth as the original movie and it skips lots of frames.
2.) The movie for some reason plays faster than the actual original movie source causing the video to be off from the sound.
Here a little info on the file:
------------------------------
Lord Of The Rings: Two Towers Xvid
MPEG Layer-3,135 kBit/s, 48,000 Hz, Stereo
640 x 272, 24 Bits, 126417 Frames, 23.976 Frames/Sec, 136 KB/Sec, XVID
If I encode the Xvid to a VCD instead of an SVCD it plays perfectly. I'm guessing its because the original source and the VCD use the same fps. Is there any way to make the original source encode to a SVCD fps so it plays smooth?
Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest you get a player that supports SVCD. Chances are your player simply doens't like the header trick
. It's not designed to support SVCD. It's just that simple.
That said, when you create your SVCD, you need to run PULLDOWN on it, to make it appear to be 29.97 fps, instead of 23.976 fps. The header's are confused, as 23.976 is a valid VCD framerate, where it is not for SVCD.
Encode your MPEG to seperate M2V, and MP2 streams. Run PULLDOWN on your M2V file. Multiplex with VCD header. You might also try using CBR, instead of VBR. MPEG-1 VCD didn't support VBR.Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything...
