I have followed the guide for converting an avi file from ntsc to pal using virtual dubsaved the frame rate as 25fps etc saved the audio as direct stream copy becasue the avi has ac3 sound. tried to load the wav after renaming to ac3 in headac reports cannot find data chunk and when clicking on the start button says not enough space in destination drive yet i have over 30 gig free. have also loaded it into goldwave. gold gives the siz as being aprrox 13 minutes yet the avi file runs for 42 minutes. the graphical display is one big block of colour

any ideas??

Try using ac3fix.exe (found in the tools section) on your ac3 file. It is a dos command line util and the useage is "ac3fix input.ac3 output.ac3".
Hopefully the headac3he will accept the file.
