Some questions before you get the answer you want:
    1) does the divx have bad quality at the same point?
    2) are you making VCD or SVCD or other?
    3) what template are you using - any adjustments?
    4) CBR or VBR? bitrate?
    5) is the "little bad bit" in the movie a 'high action scene' or constant throughout the movie?

  3. Okies
    1) The DivX has Excellent Quality
    2) Well i was making an VCD Because when i was gonna make an svcd it would be on 3 discs so.... :/
    3) 16:9 NTSC if that's what you mean
    4) No it's not really in just one spot but like in the parts where you can "see" some of the pixels on the wall.
    Thanks!

And can you answer one question for me while your at it? How do you change it to Widescreen. Will this change the size of the file also? Thanks!

OK. VCD is pretty average when it comes to quality, but this is the trade-off against SVCD (filesize vs quality)

The pixels you can see are probably normal for this type of conversion - this is the disadvantage of using VCD. The advantage of using the standard VCD is its compliance with nearly all DVD players.

My suggestions would be to use a differnet template in TMPGEnc and see if you are happier with the results (you can select a range of the source movie to test on rather than re-encoding the entire movie (Settings/Source Range)).
This will improve quality, whilst keeping the output movie to 1-2 CDs.

Some excellent XVCD and XSVCD templates can be found under the Tools link - TMPGEnc Templates section to the left.
    Particularly Kwags KVCD templates.
Read up on what they do then give them a go. You'll soon figure out which one you like best and which one gives a good compromise between/maximises quality vs filesize.

Changing to widescreen is done under Settings, Advanced.
Change source ratio to 16:9 and Keep aspect ratio in the next drop down.
Load the unlock.mcf template if these are greyed out.
Filesize will change, but not significantly

  6. Yes, I found the templates but they are extremely confusing and don't know what to click on. I clicked on the one that i wanted and it came up with a whole bunch of Frame=1 and all that kind of stuff. Can you tell me what to do with it or did i do something wrong? Or click on something before it?? Thanks!
