  1. I get this error from time to time and now have 3 coasters in a row. I normally burn these discs at 2x without problems. I've tried Nero and Record Now Max. Both have worked before. Disc gets part way into the burn then dies. Again it's worked fine before.... now coasters x 4. Power management of the usb2 device is disabled (I dont hear the drive connecting or disconnecting). No DMA to set on USB2 drives. All DLA drivers disabled.

Here is an exerpt from the text file from Nero. Does this mean anything to anyone?

  3. That may be the case. I'd expect a write error and not an SCSI/IDE command failure but that just may be how Nero sees the failure to write.

I'm going to connect it by firewire and try that (I've had the same failure before though on firewire). Also going to try it on another PC. I dont think I've had any recording errors on my old PII-333. It'd be ironic if my old PC that I've debated tossing out is the PC my sony want to be connected to. I'd think my main PC has problems with the USB2 or Firewire drivers.. though my external drives all work perfect.

As long as I can burn up these discs and it's not my drive I suppose I'm happy. Getting a new MoBo and CPU soon... this one headed to livingroom to become a media PC.

    I'll post my findings.

  4. I was about to throw away the last of the 3 DVD's that were bad and flipped it over... the burned tracks filled the whole disc. I got curious and put it in my stand alone DVD player. To my suprise it works fine. That error message from above happened while burning this DVD but apparently the burning was finished..... dunno. This was connected and configured exactly the same way as when I got the first two coasters.

Going to try on my other computer now.

  5. lately i've been getting an odd error with my DRU500A. device I/O error. it always seems to happen at 47%, with Nero or DVD Decryptor. It never happened until i reinstalled the OS. but, i'm having other problems too. Maestro will not create an image after compiling. ASPI problem. WTF
guess i'll repair the installation and reapply the service pack.
