When I play back a movie off of one of my DVD-R's that is almost maxed out the last several chapters won't play. It freezes up. This only happens after it has been playing awhile (when the DVD player is warmed up). The end chapters will play fine when it is cooled down. My DVD player has plenty of ventilation. I have been through several DVD players and they all do the same thing. Here is what I am using.

    Smart Ripper v 2.41
    Ifo Edit v0.95
    TMPGEnc v2.59.47.155 (reencode if necessary)
    Nero v5.5.9.17 to burn.
    Pinco 1x DVD-R's

I have followed all the guides. All the movies play fine on my computer. Has anyone had this problem? Is it Nero or is it the media. Please Help!!!

  2. My money is on the media.

Have a look at this post / thread:

Nero dictates WHAT is written to the media, the firmware in the recorder dictates HOW it is written. Cheap media, or media that is incompatible with your recorder and / or it's firmware will cause the problems you describe. A lot of media has playback problems as you approach the end of the disc, you will probably benefit from trying a few other brands including the likes of Verbatim and TDK which cost more, but are much more reliable for those "close to the edge" burns.

Your authoring software can NOT under any circumstances account for bad media and adjust automatically - it relies on feedback from your recorder to determine maximum speed and the MMC instruction set to use in order to talk to it, but that's it - after that, it's all down to your hardware and what you feed it.
