oyeah, it works pretty well, so long as you can get the tv output synced to the vcr properly - it can be a bitch sometimes landing it right on or close enough to that magic 59.970 or 50.000hz, esp if you have to do it with drivers - otherwise the picture occasionally jumps and rolls, and the colours look terrible. something like TVtool, or for other cards, Powerstrip, is an excellent idea.

for ashi, i'd say in particular it works well for princess mononoke, even if the source is a bit dodgy, as the vhs format hides the mistakes ... (once upon a time i had a tv-out and no dvd) and a film of that length is considerably easier and quicker to put on tape than to encode to disc if youre ok with watching it that way.... (hey, 7 standard length movies on one EP E300 even, if you can stomach the smear!)

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!

Get rid of jerky video playback
Tired of "jerky" video playback when playing AVI(DivX,XviD) or MPG(DVD,SVCD) on a PC connected to a TV using Video-Out/TV-Out? Then try ReClock, it is a DirectShow filter with a new reference clock that is locked to the video cards clock to ensure good playback and it can also adjust the frame rate to match the video card refresh rate. Read the included readme.rtf for a full description. Download ReClock 0.99e here.
