I just started using EasyVCD and I've run into a snag. I tried to encode the DVD "Trekkies" into a XVCD Mpeg file. I set up the options to fit the movie onto a 700Mb CD-r and I ended up with an Mpeg file 777Mb. Is there a way to get EasyVCD to encode correctly, or rather to get the next disc I encode to fit onto one disc without being over my alotted storage amount? Any help would be appreciated.

I've also had had problems with laggy/jumpy/slowdown(Video) on most encoding projects in EasyVCD. Is there a way to correct this. It seems alot of people are asking about this last question with no replies, is there a reason this info is being so heavily guarded?

Thanks to anyone who can help out.

  2. click on the 650MB one... It will give you a 700MB file.
For the jumpy/laggy video. This is an issue the creator is fixing.

Clicked on 650Mb disc option and it ended up giving me a 732Mb file. Is there any other way I can manipulate it to get it to fit? If I drop the bitrate how much of a difference will I see in the end result?

    Again, Thanks in advance.

  4. What is your bit-rate right now?
If you did drop the bit-rate down u will slightly loose quality ( the more the better ). Not to mention then u are creating a non-standard, i.e. XVCD/SVCD. But yes u will make the video file smaller, youre gonna have to try it out. Or you can overburn 732MB on a CD-R with nero.

Well, instead of using EazyVCD, I'm toying around with TMPGnc directly and i think I figured out how to do it, but it's alot of guessing. It seems that the problem is in the file size estimation in TMPGnc. Right now, I'm at a bitrate of around 820. I don't know why it has to be so low, it's only an 86 minute film.

Where is the best place to find templates for TMPGnc? I know there are some out there, just not positive where to find reliable ones. I'm on a 600Celeron and I'm clocking a combined rip/encode time of around 8 hours. I'm not into wasting my time and computer's resources on figuring this out.

Thanks for helping me out fellas, I do appreciate it.

  6. ok, here is the deal with Mpeg sizes.

If you burn the CD as mentioned in the Guide on the FAQ page you can fit about 800MB of MPEG data onto a 80min 700MB CD-R.

as for the jumping, this is a known problem with (X)SVCD's.
if you are having this problem with (X)VCD's then i would say that you player does not surport (X)VCD's too well.
Several of my friends have DVD Players that say they will play (X)VCD's but the playback is jerky.
I suggest you look up your DVD Player on the vcdhelp website to see if any other people are having the same problem.
