APEX 1100W on the fritz!

I am a proud owner of 3 Apex DVD players. My first was the apex 500w, which was great for vcds/svcds, but horrible for dvds. My sister, with my advice, purchased an APEX 1100W. Awesome dvd player! So I too purchased one. We put hers in the living room and mine in the room outside. Recently, I cannot play a dvd or svcd or vcd on the dvd player. When something is put in, it reads for half a second and then says no disc. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem? The room it is in is usually pretty cold during the winter, but it has only given me trouble recently... Any advice?

use a dvd cleaner disc.

if that doesnt work... physically pick up the dvd player and vigorously shake it then try and see if it works! Im am very serious... sometimes this action works for electronics....
