  1. I have 2.5sp and i'm frame serving with vfapi, But I've heard about 2.62 and that you do not need to frame serve, is this an advantage, easier, better quality. I like CCE because of the speed but I'm having trouble with 2.5 and will go get 2.62 if is worth the change-please REPLY

As far as I'm concerned there is really no advantage to using 2.62 over 2.5. Its not that you don't need to frameserve with 2.62, its that you can't...at least not with avisynth (please correct me if I'm wrong, or am I thinking of 2.64?). With vfapi frameserving I don't think it makes a difference, either will work and of course either will load a raw avi file. Since your source is DVD you should really be using avisynth instead of vfapi. It is soooo much faster and easier and you have so many more filter options.

My understaning is that the main additions to 2.62 were in audio ability/quality, and you arguably should never use CCE for audio anyway. I use 2.5, it does everything I need it to. If you are going to upgrade go to 2.66. I don't know if the quality is necessarily better but the encoding algorithms were modified and there are definitely many more features; mostly filters.
