  1. I want to see DVDs with my laptop in the car. The best way to put the laptop is in the ceiling of the car but the screen gets head down. Is there out any player that lets you to put the video screen down?
    Thanks

Curiousity, why not buy an lcd screen module, such as from www.partsexpress.com
    "LCD 5.6" VIDEO MODULE "

install the unit and run the wiring down so that you can have the laptop on the seat or etc for easy access and just port the video out.

just a thought, plus with an inverted laptop the dvd may not read properly anyway. most drives are not designed to read while upside down.

You want to watch DVD's in your car??? While you're driving??

Jesus H. Christ... and I thought cell-phone users were a menace. This has got to be the most idiotic idea I've heard in some time... All I can say is, I really hope you don't live anywhere near me, 'cause I sure as hell don't want to be the one you end up crashing into because you were watching Adam Sandler's latest escapades instead of the road...

well it depends, I hooked up a laptop in my car for playing movies, but that was for the kids in the back, fill the HD with divx movies and you can drive for hours with them somewhat content. LOL.

  6. This is for the clever people: what I want is to see DVDs from the back seat. The driver don't need to see anything else than the road.
    For the rest:
The problem is that the sun is so strong that the best position to be able to see the screen is in the center of the ceiling.
Have you ever seen the Audiovox Mobile Video in http://www.partsexpress.com/ ?, well, I'd like to do the same with my laptop.

    Thanks

  7. The solution from TheManWhoCantThink is great, that's exactly what I need, but my notebooks' is a ATI Mobility radeon. Any way I'll try the NVIDIA utility, just in case.

it would be easier just to make your movies upside down with the rotation filter in vdub and then frameserve to tmpgenc

  9. Using a filter while producing my videos is good only for my videos, but not for DVDs you buy.

  10. actually if you feel adventurous, there is a simple way to handle this.

I assume you mean to mount the television in an inverted position. in the arcade industry we do this all the time. if you open up the TV, you will find that the picture tube has a bundle of wound wires around the tube neck. to this, 4 wires are attached. these 4 wires are connected to the circuit board. if you cut the connector on the end of these wires, so that you now have two connectors, each with two wires, you can flip and swap their positiond on the circuit board. this will flip the picture, top to bottom or left to right, depending on how you arrange them.

as with any electronic work, please be careful.

He's using a laptop, jlegere, there's quite a difference between that and a standard CRT
And bloody hell, there's capacitors with 25000 volts slowly leaking away in there, what about the disclaimer of leaving the thing to stand power-off for a couple days and using rubber gloves? If you're feeling that daredevil I've got an old Philips CM8833 with a burnt out tube that needs replacing. Fancy giving it a go?

there's a rotation filter in vdub now? guess i must have gone blind when i was trying to get my portrait-format (digicam 90-degree rotated) videos the 'right way up' rather than having to tilt the monitor to view

the average laptop optical drive, you may notice, has clips to keep the disc in place, same as a walkman. you put it in, it clicks into position, and can sometimes take a bit of force to remove. it should read perfectly fine upside down!

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!

  12. You can use ffdshow to "flip video" on playback options. Just used that to solve my friend's upside down XviD playback of austin powers 3.

  13. ATI drivers should also let you rotate the picture.
