  1. i seem to have a problem with playing .mpg (vcd) files on my dvd player after ive burnt em.
When i play the movie on my dvdplayer, the movie doesnt play smooth (like its missing some frames)
I was wondering if the problem could be that the files are ripped as NTSC, and burnt to PAL and i play em with PAL...
Anyone that can confirm this or not and tell me what to do?

converting from NTSC 23.976fps to PAL 25fps means putting in an extra frame every second (copy of one of the frames) which may cause the skipping problem. Some programs do it very well and you wouldn't notice, others do it badly( r u using nero to do the conversion?, its normally not that good at authoring). TMPGenc will usually process this well, but if you are having probs and use virtualdub I've also posted to:

  3. k thanks so far.. i never tried to convert it, i just burn the files with nero to .vcd.. i have TMPGenc so im going to try to re encode a .mpg and see if it works..

edit: i was thinking (maybe a stupid thought), i have a multiregion dvd player, if i would burn the .mpg just in NTSC and play em in a different way wouldnt i be able to watch it correctly (like watch it in the other format)

depends on your tv. Mine wont accept ntsc signal from my dvd player, only get b/w shitty picture. Check your tv manual to see whether you can switch it over to accept ntsc.....
