  2. As far as I know, this isn't possible. Someone else please correct me on that if needed.

However, it's not that tough of a process. Check out this guide: http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcddvdr <--- it will get you pointed in the right direction.

  3. Also depends on how much you want to spend, or not You can check out Sonic's DVDIt! or MyDVD... but not cheap (to me). Luckily, a version of DVDIt that accepts the mpeg files I capture came with the computer

  5. You can also buy a Cyberhome CH-DVD402 player for $65,- (excl. $20,- mail-in rebate) at Bestbuy!
PLays everything MPEG1/2 direct on CD/DVD, no authoring required (also MP3 long filename, JPG, PAL/NTSC, +/-R/RW etc.)
Is even cheaper than most software.

Yes it is possible DVD workshops will accept mpeg files (no need to de-multiplex)

  7. Craig, I am just trying to confirm my understanding of process.

Yes it is possible DVD workshops will accept mpeg files (no need to de-multiplex)
DVD Workshop will do de-multiplex, right ? Is it part of authoring process when you use mpeg2 file with audio ?
    Quote Quote
  8. Yes it does the demultiplex from the mpeg2 you import. There is no need to demiltiplex it first. Just load in your mpeg file.

  9. Is it possible that some authoring software can do better job in de-multiplexing during authoring process that other ? Is there difference between them in this step ?

  10. I would not have thought so, although I dont know for sure. But it is not like there is any encoding taking place where there could be a quality issue, it is just splitting the audio from the video.

  11. I am just expanding my thoughts about this :

General discusion about MPEG2 sync issue....

and I thought that it might be important when you choose authoring software. It depends if any sofware have some special feature that can handle droppen video frames and fix it during de-multiplex.

this is crazy im not dumb and i can read, now i tried every step to chandge my DOWNLOADED MOVIE FILES THAT ARE ON DISK(CDR) to try to burn them to dvdr the way the guides say and i get nothing.

well on the svcd guide i think i got close but the file says 1.9gigs but

dvdit (shows file to be way larger that 4.7gigs)

mydvd (says not enuff space exceeds 650mb on cdr when i have settings for dvd)

dvd factory2 ( will process it but always wants to convert files for some reason and i left on all night for like 10hrs and it was still converting and i have a fast processor) why does it try to convert if i followed the guide correctly and the guide says nothing about converting

    pls help.

can some1 pls tell me exactly how they do it the exact programs (versions included) and everything if they used cdrs that have movies off the net on them and everything the whole 9 yards

    THANK YOU

Yea I wound up getting a Mintek 1600 for 50 dollars on sale at best buy.
    (Just for use like this)

I had a set of 160 MPEG files from a TV series I wanted to archive on DVDR this last weekend. Split up the MPG's and Burned 9 DVD's in DATA mode.

The Mintek 1600 does not support LFN, so I just relabeled each MPG name as the season and episode #.

Saved me probably at the minimum 30 hours of re-adjusting time and authoring. Untill someone recommeded it to me, I did not realize there were players on the market that would play MPEG in a native format.

Figured I would pass on my experience because time=money for me, and I was in the same boat a couple weeks ago. Glad I took this route. Saved me ALLOT of time.

Will keep doing this, unless someone knows of a Linux based application that you can use to demux, then adjust etc.. then remux, since you can batch jobs (assuming these are command line apps) and not need to do everything manually through a GUI.

DVD workshop will accept an mpeg file for authoring to DVD if it is DVD Compliant. A SVCD mpeg is not DVD compliant, so you either have to follow the SVCD-DVD guide or reencode to a DVD compliant mpeg.

So no you can not just drag an SVCD mpeg into workshop and author it for DVD.

  15. Guys,

I am attempting to burn MPEG-2 files from TV shows to DVD. I understand these files need to be converted or authored to MPEG-1 before the burning process can be completed. Is this correct and if so, how do I go about it? Which software is required.

  16. jacobs90 - you should probably start a new thread.

For DVD playback on DVD media you want to use MPEG2. For DVD playback on CD-R media you can use MPEG1 for VCD, MPEG2 for DVCD although the picture dimensions are lower than DVD.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  17. Thanks. I am not sure how to start a new thread, as I am new to the forum.
The problem I am having with the files is that the TV show is in a different MPEG than what the DVD burning software will allow for import. How do I go about authoring it?

    Thanks for the help.

Ive been tring for weeks to put some vcd's on to 1 dvd-r. i tried loads of programs and different birates and sampling rates and it still said stuff like not a complient dvd format. Just for some info what does my mpeg have to have to be a complient dvd format?

  19. Have you read this guide.

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcddvdr.htm

To be able to author VCD mpegs to DVD you have to resample the audio from 44.1khz to 48khz. If you don't do this it will be non compliant and workshop will reencode the file.

  20. I like to see where this goes, I have tried many times even rencoding in tpgme and would end up with sync issues. I have tried workshop also and after 10 hours it didnt work for me with converting svcd. Would really like to get see something good on this. Buying the cheap player is a good idea but I want to be able to take my dvdrs anywhere to play them.
