  2. First off if you set the bitrate to 4000 that is not low. 300 is really low. 4000 is unheard of.Is it cbr or vbr. How long is the movie. How many cd's do you want to put it on???

  3. File size is dependant to the lenght/runtime of the video and the bitrate.

The VCD standard (whitebook) calls for a video bitrate of 1150kbit/s and audio at 224kbit/s. This works out to about 1min video = 10MB.

Now you didn't say how long your movie is but at 4000kbit/s (assume you are encoding for DVD because very few standlone players support a bitrate this high for x(S)VCD) to get a 3GB file your source would have to be ~113min (and that's at 53% you say).

So something is 'off' with your settings.
