  1. What is MiniDVD?
I know that it is DVD content burned onto a CD-R, but is this similar or different to CVD?
Also, what players support this (I couldnt get a clear idea from the DVD Players page)?

I have been playing with the ULead DVD FActory 2, which suports this feature, the resulting disk is recognized by WINDVD as I would expect it to be and contains all menus, etc., but my APEX 1100W ignores the structure and goes right to a folder view of the mpeg file. It will play the mpeg but with out sound.

I am trying to create CVDs with menus, chapters, etc. and I like the ease of the DVD Movie Factory so I was hoping this would be a short cut.

No, it's got all the files and folders of a DVD, so it's a DVD movie but on a CD media. Not CVD, which is a (something like) a mixture between SVCD and VCD.
My standalone played a MiniDVD I created with Ulead Video Studio, but very jerky and choppy. I later learned that my player (like most) can't pull data from a CD at the rate required to maintain a steady A/V stream. The use for MiniDVD is pretty limited too, as there is only room for some 10-15 min movie at DVD bitrates...

  3. Ahhh...Now I get it. Basically it sounds like an accidental format that will only play on a computer.

    Thank you.

Now if only I could find a decent, easy to use menu authoring program that could be used to make CVDs.
