I have recently started trying to create a svcd.I have increased my ram to 384k and have a p3 450 .I have a nvidia 32mb video card.Apart from upgrading my cpu (and motherboard) is there any more appreciable increase in speed if i increased my ram or obtained a new say 64mb video card.Presently it takes around 20 hrs for a 90 mim movie with btrate of 2150

Upgrading your CPU is about the only way to get better encoding speed. The memory in your video card has little to do with encoding. It is mostly for use in 3D graphics performance. You have more than enough ram also.
Your best bet is to upgrade your Mainboard and CPU.
