  1. is CCE really that much better? what are its advantages?

can you edit out unwanted segments w/ CCE like you can w/ tmpgenc?

Is there any decent guides to using CCE?
    thanks guys

do a search -- there about 1000 threads on this same subject ..

if you have $2000 to spend - then buy CCE, its the best at many things .. if you don't have $2000 and you want great quality still and wait a little longer for it , then buy TMPGenc ..
or as an alternitive get Main Concept for a little over $100 and you get great speed and quality also ..

CCE dosnt have any the features that TMPGenc has in terms of editing and such or re-sizing.

when you buy CCE you get a sorta ok manual that explains most of what you need to know to get started ..

If you want to create VCD then you are probably better off using TMPG.

www.doom9.org is a good source of information on CCE, with a knowledgeable CCE forum. My advice is to get to know TMPG, then you will know from personal experience whether it is worthwhile trying CCE.

  4. the only thing that keeps me still using TMPGEnc is the ability to cut editing and some other basic prefiltering options (especially the Noise reduction filter!)
CCE is so fast, and the result is perfect for MPEG2, but it doesn't have that in TMPGEnc.

I wonder though is there any way to frameserve from TMPGEnc to CCE?
and no I've tried & experimenting so many VirtualDub's noise reduction related external filters but nothing was as good as TMPGEnc's built in one!

You can use all of TMPG's editing/filtering features by loading everything into TMPG as usual, and then saving a project file (.tpr). This can be converted to a pseudo-avi with VFAPI Converter. This loads directly into CCE, but you need to select SAR(1:1) in CCE.

  7. You need to use Avisynthv to frameserve to CCE that gives you the greatest speed and its filters are better I'm told. I have not used any of the filters but I know it is faster to use Avisynthv because it takes me 2 hours to encode a full movie.

I wasn't suggesting what was faster/better. I was stating how it is possible to incorporate some useful features of TMPG into CCE encoding.
