    I am unsure of what the file extension for mpeg-2 movies, Is it .mpeg or .mp2 ???? Thanks for any help

    m1v - mpeg1 video only

    m2v - mpeg2 video only

    mp2/mpa - mpeg1 layer II audio only

    mpv - mpeg video file (could be mpeg1 or mpeg2, don't see that often, but CCE encodes to MPV)

    mpg - mpeg file (could be mpeg1 or mpeg2, have to check) cotains both video and audio information.

    The joining of MPEG video and audio is called multiplexing (or muxing). To take a MPEG file and seperate it into seperate video and audio files is called de-multiplexing (or de-muxing).
