Incorrect Function!! WTF is this!!!

I have a Ridata DVD+RW/+R. It burns DVD+RW, and can read DVD+RW. It can READ DVD+R ONLY WHEN MEDIA IS ON IT. (Previous SUCCESSFUL burn) But the DAMN thing wont read a BLANK DVD+R.

I put the DVD+R in the tray and when i tell nero to burn onto it, it tells me to put in media with more room. And when i go to 'MyComputer' and double click on the DVD drive, i get 'Incorrect Function'. I have looked at the File System and i have noticed that my comp sees my blank DVD+R as RAW and my DVD+R with media on it as UDF. Please help me.

Running XP-------do i need to change windows into running my blanks as UDF?
