    TMPGENC freezes at the same frame every time I try to convert it.
    I have tried to scan with vdub and then saving as new avi with direct stream copy. Nothing seems to help.

    Since you already have converted up to where it stops, why not start converting again past where it stops? Simply use the Source Range function in TMPGEnc?
