Hi,

i was just wondering about the aspect ratios with DVD movies, and which of the following options i should choose for a UK Pal DVD. i am using CCE 2.5 & DVD2SVCD and the setting i am referring to are in the conversion tab:

16:9 (borders added, encoded as 4:3)
4:3 (no borders, encoded as 4:3)
Anamorphic (no borders, encoded as 16:9)

does what i choose depend on the value it says on the DVD on the back of the case? for example:

Snatch Says::1.85 and also on the front it says widescreen
black hawk down is 1:2.40
scarface is 2.35:1
gladiator is 1:2.35
carltis way is 2.35:1
saving private ryan is: 1.78:1 and anamorphic widescreen

so, in practice what does this mean? does this affect the ouput settings, the size of the movie viewed and the size of the black bars? i want to keep the movie in the ratio to which it was made so is this 4:3??? i am watching these on my PC & TV and so i want it to look as good as possible with a widescreen TV.
