I have the Verbatim DVD+RW writer M#VBTDVRW1A. I can burn with most any program to DVD+R but, nothing will work with DVD+RW. Using verbatim media with it.

Please give us more detail of what is the DVD writer you use and what do you burn and what player you use to play the burned dvd and what software you use to burn the dvd.

try using the free bitsetter at dvdplusew.org and change your +RW to read as a DVD-Rom see if that helps.

What is the exact problem? An error during the recording or only a playback problem? If it's the first case then try a different burning software. If it's a playback problem check that your DVD player really support DVD+RW (but most Sony players do that so it should not be the problem, see here).
Your Verbatim drive is not really a Verbatim, it's either a Ricoh 5125 or a NEC ND-1000A (you can check which one it is in your burning software or with Nero Infotool). The bitset util only works with Ricoh drives but it only fixes the problem where the DVD player does not recognize the DVD+RW book type.
