I have downloaded two parts to a movie on Kazaa and they both have an extension of .mpg (Ex.... xXx vindiesel 1of2 VCD.mpg) approx size of 650 megs each file
When i try to burn these as a vcd it says it is in wrong mpeg format and that it will have to encode them first. What do i need to do?

use nero and when it says its not compliant - hit turn off compliance and continue.

  6. If I'm not mistaken you use the NTSC system in Canada. If you look at the films you are trying to download off Kaaza many if not most are in the PAL system (resolution 352x288). Try and use the PAL setting when you burn with Nero. If you get no error messages this means you are stuck with a PAL vcd. If you have a dvd player that plays multiple formats but outputs in NTSC (i.e.Apex) then just burn it as a PAL vcd. Bob's your uncle.

  7. Take your video files and convert them with TMPGenc to VCD compliant files and then burn your VCD's.

Try opening the file first with bitrate viewer so you can see exactly what you have.

It sounds like someone renamed the file extension to .mpg when it's probably an .avi file.
