I gave up on my Sony 500A and bought the Pioneer DVR-105.

Thing is the pioneer records the two brands of 4x media I have and at 4x. The Sony did 4x up until I upgrated to the 1.0g firmware after that it became a 2x burner. I just burned a full disc in about 15 minutes.

But they run out very quickly my brother bought his it was the last one they had that burned at 4X and we were their at 8AM, the others burn at 2X ut they dont have many of those either they sell very fast.

True I made several trips to Office Max but they were always sold out.

I dont think you'll be sorry, my burner works flawlessly. Would have to agree with Ripper though, persistance pays off, I saved big and got it for the 169 at Office Max.
