  1. I know what you all are thinking, the trial period has expired, well your right it did so I did the noble thing and bought a license for it, but now it won't open any of my mpeg-2 files. The plus version unlocked, but everytime I tried to open an mpeg-2 file is says file is unsupported. Any idea what could cause that? I tried several different files some download some captured myself. Mpeg-1 files work fine. It worked during the trial version a few months ago. Is it some codec I need or do I need to reinstall something. Any help would be welcomed.

Open mpeg2 files has nothing to with the trial limit. It is only the mpeg2 encoding that is trial in the free tmpgenc version.

If you want to open mpeg2 you must have a mpeg2 decoder/codec installed. Tmpgenc seems to work best with Powerdvd codecs. Install the powerdvd application and it should work(demo available). It may work with the free dvd/mpeg2 codecs also.

You can also use this method to open mpeg2 in tmpgenc

  3. Well I have Power DVD, I'm getting the XP patch, I did install the free mpeg 2 codec but I uninstalled it because it seemed I could not use windows media player anymore. Maybe that is the cause, I can open the mpeg2 files in PowerDVD, but not in any other player. I'll reinstall the codecs and the patch and see if that helps
