Hi everyone, I am using Ulead DVD Movie Factory to convert MPEG-2 to XSVCD format. Conversion seems fine on PC, but when using my Sony DVP-NC655P DVD unit I get choppy audio & video. When I press pause on the DVD and then play the problem goes away for a second then comes back again. Any suggestions?

your bitrate is to high
your dvd player have a max bitrate for mpeg stream on cd
try to know the max aceptable bitrate whit this dvd player section of this site -
I am not sure where DivXerous got 3000 as a max, but if that proves to be true you should post your result on the "DVD Players" section of this site under your player name. There is no info there on max bitrate for XSVCD right now.
One way to check your max bitrate is to record some CDs with MPEG files at various Constant Bitrates (CBR). See how high you can go before your player starts choking. -
I spent an hour and made 1 minute video clips of 2000,2250,2500....5000 and put them on 1 SVCD(CBR, fast action scene). This is handy for testing new players or friends DVD players. Low and behold my cheapo unit played them all! Since then I have bumped up the max on my VBR's, and a lot of movies I'd do in 3 CD I now do in 2.

I think I was looking in the DVD Players section of the site...saw somewhere it said 3000...
