  1. i rebuilded A AVI File Index..its now ready to watch..note that im using Virtual Dub To do all of this...after that..i viewed the movie..i saved it to AVIa dn it gave me a Warning saying that it is saved with no compression and it'll be REAL BIG...i saved it ignoring it...when its finished i check the file..its 3.GIG SOMETHING!!! dats just half of the movie...nothalf...but 7 minutes of the movie...then it is running more than 1 hour..it'll be REAL LARGE..

so i need help in compressing compressin gand compressing it till its small..without loosing quality and sound..i might risk loosing a little..but not too much..but please HELP!!!

i downloaded the movie with 713MB of size..so i want to rebuild the index...and then save it as avi..and convert it to MPEG-1 WITHOUT CHANGING THE SIZE...means i want it to be 713MB even though its Converted to mpeg -1 vcd...can anyone help me do this???!! i cleared everything uneccesarry on my 9GIG C: drive...im ready...

unless the file is messed up somehow, you shouldn't have to rebuild the index and resave it. if it plays fine, just load the original file into tmpgenc.

If you convert it to mpeg-1 VCD it WILL change the size, it is a different compression. VCD is approx 10Mb per min of video.

OK basic mistake here. You used virtualdub to rebuild file index which is good, but then saved it as an uncompressed avi which is BAD unless you have a mainframe (how good is your English - please say if you don't understand). In video use direct stream copy to save your avi and then convert. However, it's impossible to get a 713mb avi onto one cd as a vcd (avi is so much better at compressing video than mpeg). You will need to put it onto two cds as vcds due to the compression ratios.
you know it's the anti-Midas touch when all you touch goes to shit..............

ever try anything like DivFix, AVIdefreezer, etc to undo stuck frames and repair damaged data, little 500k utilities that need enough space for a temp copy of the file but no more, fix it with no re-encoding.... 99% of the time anyway.

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!
