How do I convert .mpg into .Avi?

Made a film using crappy moviemaker that only allows you o save as mpg. I want to create a VCD but i do not know how to convert into .avi first. Any help?

your going backwards if you already have an mpg or mpeg file it is ready to be placed onto cdr just load it into a burning program like vcd easy located here in the tools section and away you go you dont need to back track by making an avi and reconverting to mpeg.

...but you must make sure the mpeg is in the proper format for making a VCD, like mpeg version, bitrates, resolution and multiplexing! If not, reencoding/remultiplexing may be required.

If, for what reason, you want to create an AVI from a MPG then there are (from my view) only 2 apps which are the easiest to do so :
- VDub if you're sure the MPeG is MPeG-1 (if VirtualDub says it cannot open the mpeg, it properly is MPeG-2).
- FlaskMpeg if your mpeg is MPeG-2.
