  1. I have near several hundred 10 years old video clips in DVD quality with mpg extension and would like to convert into good/normal quality avi to save space and to be able to share over net.
I have checked avi.net but it requires to input each file one by one and to set quality to 7 for each file separately.
Is there any application converting whole folder?
    Thanks!

I use winff or xmedia recode for batch conversion. Convert to avi with xvid.

Just to remind you don't get rid of your originals. That way you can always go back to the source for future converions for optimal quality down the road. You don't want to compress from an already compressed source (granted dvd is of course compressed but that is your starting point so for this purpose it is the best starting point you have).

  4. xmedia looks great but for unknown reason hangs or ends with errors after 2-3 clips.
Else Windows XP 32 system is stable and there isn't any other problems.
Feels really sorry, that it just fails.
