I recently ripped a dvd on to 3 cdr-s, which i thought was silly although it worked, but my question is related to DVDX2.0 in the output setting if i chose to encode my DVD to SVCD and in the 'VOLUME DON'T EXCEED' menu i chose to VCD 80 mins, will my movie be encoded in SVCD 80mins per CD-R, or will it be VCD??
thnx

If you choose your output to be svcd it will be svcd. Keep in mind that because you are encoding an svcd, you will get less than 80 minutes of film on your disk. This is because your file size will be larger than that of a vcd since you are using a higher bitrate. A higher bitrate will make the file look longer in minutes than it really is. :P

It would be impossible to say how large your file size would be without using a bitrate calculator. Fortunately you can download one from the tools section of this webpage. On the left hand side of this screen click on the tools link. The very first selection on the tools page are bit rate calulators to help you decide what bitrate to use to fit your film on a cd. I've never used any of them, so I can't recommend one. Maybe someone else in the forum can.

When you change the "bitrate" in DVDX it tells you what the MB size is of the ripped movie will be.
I divide the size of my blanks into this figure, and set that figure in the output
sections disc size.
ie: if the total( depending on bitrate) and the ripped size is 2600 MB, I use three 90 minute CD-R's. ( You can adjust the bitrate up to fill the last CD-R. )
