I captured my first 27 minute long AVI video file using VirtualDub at 640X480 with VideoPic. I did no editing, and used the file to burn a VCD using Nero5.5. At the rate the encoding was going, it was going to take 1 1/2 hours to finish the process so I aborted after 45 minutes. I am using Windows 2000 and my cpu speed is 500 mHz.
Is this the usual time it takes to encode a 1/2 long video, or did I do something very wrong?
Thanks.
George

First mistake: encoding with nero. Maybe you should be reading guides instead of posting?

I'm very surprised that Nero did it that quick. I have a "fast" system and it takes me about 2 1/2 hours to encode a 45 minute avi to CVD (352 x 480 resolution MPEG-2) format using TMPGenc. I am using two settings that drastically slow down the encoding process, but your time with Nero's defaults still strikes me as being very good/quick.
