  1. Has ANYONE used the Verbatim 2.4x DVD"+R" disks and the Sony DRU500a and had ANY problems? I am ONLY referring to the Verbatim + format at 2.4x, not the - format. If anyone has used these disks, please specify how many you've burned, what burning software you use, and if ANY have had problems. Thanks

  2. I have successfully burned 15 of the Verbatim DVD+R (DataLifePlus). Not a sigle coaster. DRU500A. Plays on all my PC DVD ROMs and all my DVD players. Not a single pixelation, skip, or freeze on any movie (I've watched every one). Some of the cheaper disks, although they burn fine, will pixelate (only on my players) in some spots of the content. I didn't realize this until i watched the content start to finish.

I use RecordNow DX to burn (it seems to be well optimized/tested for the Sony drives).

  3. rma155, thanks for the information. I asked you a question on the other topic in this media forum regarding where you purchased those ACCU's. What online site, and when you say you have pixelation with cheaper media, are you referring to just the ACCU'S or other cheap media as well? Also, you said you noticed some pixelation but only on your players. Do you mean that you have tried those ACCU'S and/or other cheaper media on other standalone players and there was no pixelation? Let me know when you get a chance. Thanks

P.S. Just so I know for sure, are you using the DVD+R's @ 2.4x? Or are you burning them at 1 or 2x? Also, out of the 15 movies that play fine, how many of them are over 4.10 GB's? How many of them did you have to reencode? I have not had a single problem with any of them either on movies that are under 4.10 GB's.

  4. defense, maybe I am wrong, but I don't believe that you can burn +R slower then 2.4x which is standard speed for +R/RW.

  5. @DonPedro, humm, that is interesting. Well if that is the case then I DEFINITELY won't be purchasing any more of those disks. I was just reading on ACCU media again, just to see how many others have tried it because I'm getting an order of 100 either tomorrow or Tuesday, and I saw where you felt gipped because they didn't say ACCU. I have read a lot of bad experiences from meritline.com, but I ordered mine from cdrdvdmedia.com where a lot of people had positive things to day. Anyway, I am just curious as to whether or not those ACCU'S which said Ritek from advdinfo burned at 2x with no problems. Meaning, did you have any coasters? If not, did you burn them all at 2x? Thanks

  6. defense, i got the Accus from meritline.com. They play perect on PC DVD-ROM. They pixelate on my Samsung M101 DVD players although less at 1x. I haven't tried other players. I've had good luck with Verbatim DVD+R's @ 2.4x and with Memorex DVD+R @ 2.4x (cheap). I need to check which burns were over 4.10 GBs. I'll let you know.

  7. They show 2x in Nero but I was never able to burn them at 2x. Real speed was around 1x jumping up and down. I don't believe that they were ACCU at all.

    More details here :

Accu media, but RITEK Manufacturer ID. Is it OK ?

  8. @rma, thanks for the info. If you find some time to check those 15 movies, then I would appreciate it. I am just curious, do you have the Sony DRU500a burner?

@Donpedro, it doesn't sound like those were ACCU, but I'm just curious as to whether or not you had any pixelation or made any coasters out of that batch like rma did? You both purchased them at meritline.com. I purchased mine from cdrdvdrmedia.com because I read many good posts about that site and people that received them said they burn and play great. I will know tomorrow or Tuesday, because that is when I get mine. Please let me know. Thanks

  11. @rma155, ok, pretty much the same. It is Sony. Let me ask you a question. What is the color of the print on the top side of your blank VERBATIM DVD+R's? Does it say "RW" on the right side of the disk? If so, do you have ANY clue what the "RW" specifies? It can't mean re-writable, because these are DVD+R's, and it says DVD+R on the same disk it says "RW"....WEIRD.

  12. I gave you answer in your other post. It is just trademark for + media.

  13. defense, the print color on my Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD+R is purple. And yes, there is a RW icon on the right side of the disk. Under the icon is DVD+R below it in small print.
