  1. Any of you guys know if I can autostart a VCD on a mac? Perhaps with Quicktime? Similar to Autorun on a PC? Sofar I understand you can autostart a file in the root directory but can you specify options like Fullscreening the VCD?

    Any ideas appreciated, Thanks

IIRC, Macs make use of Quicktime to provide AUTORUN functionality. You can see and select it to be on or off by using the QT control panel.

Fancy way to Autorun a mac would be (using QTPro):
Make QTPict with hot links in picture to various Movies --> Instant Menu. Do Apple+J in Movies and Picture, and look at properties. One is Autoplay/PlayWhenOpened/??? (might also be "property" for FullScreen!?). Close properties. Set view to [Full Screen]. Do [SaveAs|Self-Enclosed Movie]. Make sure name is short (<11Char).

Burn disc using Toast (either Hybrid or MacHFS). Create Disc Image 1st, Put files including Pict & Movies into it. On Mac side, one of the options is Autoplay box--put in name of Pict/Menu.

Burn or Save as Disc Image and Mount to test.

There are other things that can be used as menus, and other mac apps that help set up autorun and fullscreen. Check Versiontracker. This should be a good start though.

    HTH,

  3. Ahh saving as a self enclosed movie! That just might be what I need to do! I'm not sure I know what QTPict is yet but I will have a look, I am developing this project on a PC but I do have access to a Mac with Toast. Thank you for your suggestions!

To do anything with autostart on the Mac, you actually have to be using a Mac. There is no software that I know of (though you could try HyCD) that can work create/work with Mac disc images from the PC side.

I assumed that since you were in this forum and from the topic subject that you were already on a Mac. My mistake.

QTPict-meaning Quicktime Picture (basically a Mac Pict / Tif / BMP file encapsulated in QT fileheaders)

Slick ways that Pros and SemiPros do it (with cross-platform functionality):
    1. Director (for cross-platform you need both versions) $$$
    2. HTML/Web pages & Java (there are browser variations)
    3. Acrobat PDF
    4. M$ Powerpoint (need both versions to fix quirks)
    5. Tribworks iShell
    6. Macromedia Flash 8)
    and others...

  5. I have been using MacImage and CDEverywhere but have not yet been able produce an autostart disc. I do have access to an iBook so I will try to move my project to that machine.
