  1. Hi all...

The stranged thing. Ripped a dvd movie to svcd.
On my pc it plays perfect.
But on my standalone dvdplayer the folling things happen:
    It's say's: total cd time 39.51 min (ok..it's vbr)
But at exactly 37.24min it stops playing. when i put the stating point at 37.26 ihe continues.
this happens whit all the movies of 39.51min.

    Anyone?

    o ya..player is a philips (dvd723)

  2. Stupid question but at the point where the player stops playing...is the movie over or not?

I've noticed on my DVD player )ToshibaSD1800) that the counter time isn't the most accurate on VCD or SVCD.

So i was just wondering if the movie cuts out before it is done playing or does the movie finish but the counter is just way off?

  3. Ha found the problem...

It is 74 min barrier in combination with the writingsoftware. When i use cdrwin to burn my images (it complanes about the 74 min)...all the svcd have the stopping problem.

When i use nero, there are no problems. So, in the future i use NERO.

I answer to your question qballcious about the timer:
That's because the svcd are variable bitrate. The player makes a calculation of the movie time (by maximum bitrate), but in reality a second doesn't take a second. it takes less. so, in most cases of vbr the 39 min are about 50 min of real movie time.
