  1. I don't have a DVD burner - I burn SVCDs to CDs. My cousin has a super drive on a new G4 desktop and wants to copy a 3-disc SVCD to a single DVD. Can he use GNU vcdtoolsX 1.1 to create .xml files from the .mpegs then burn as multitrack CD-ROM XA?

    Thanks for any info.

  2. SVCD 480x576/480 (PAL/NTSC) resolution and 44.1kHz audio aren't legal in DVD.

You could encode XSVCDs with some legal DVD resolution and 48kHz audio. My Pioneer 444 DVD standalone plays these XSVCDs just fine as long as the bitrate doesn't exceed about 2500 kb/s.

For example, encode 352x576/480 or 720x576/480 XSVCD with 48kHz audio. SVCD is more compatible with DVD players but these XSVCD-resolutions can be more easily transferred to real DVDs later.
