  1. Hi,

I'm going nuts with this burner.

When I first got it, I was able to burn a few DVD-Rs successfully with Nero. I was using the Pioneer DVS-R470SDF DVD-R Media.

Then I bought some cheap K-Hypermedia DVD-R Media and I've only been able to burn 1 out of like 8 bad ones. Then I bought some Memorex DVD-R Media and the two I've tried have failed as well.

I'm using the latest Nero version 5.5.10.0 to burn and I upgraded my firmware from c to f, so I'm not sure if that's what's causing it.

Too many variables... different versions of Nero, different firmware, and different media. I need to figure out what's causing this burner to fail.

Any help you can give me would be highly appreciated.

What sort of failures are you getting with the drive? Skipping? Does the burn process finish or end with errors? I've had good luck with the Sony drive using inexpensive ACCU disks from Meritline. I used RecordNow DX to do the burning (Version 4 came with the drive, and I then downloaded the upgrade to 4.5 from the Sony site). Also, I've found that you cannot put labels on the ACCU disks. In every case I've tried the labels cause skipping and stalling in my DVD player.

  3. What about RecordNowDX ? Does it work ? That is what came with burner and should burn fine.

I have confirmed it, KHYPERMEDIA def does not work well with the DRU500A.

I had another buddy even have issues with his Pioneer drive.

Get RITEK's (at like 80-90 cents each, Princos, (60-70 cents each), or ACCU)

Search the boards their are plenty of cheap media that has been confirmed as working great.

    That KHPERMEDIA just sucks.
