I have tried several methods with this one . Smartripper and Dvd decrypter to demux and author with Dvd Maestro. When you load the m2v into Maestro you lose about 15 mins. I've also tried to reenode using cce and it locks up on the second pass. I've used these methods to backup about 80 dvds with no probs like this what so ever. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED![]()

Have you tried re-encoding with TMPGenc?
I have never had any problems with the following sequence
-rip to hard drive with CloneAD or Smartripper
-run through dvd2avi
- re-encode with TMPGenc and set the bitrate to get a total output of approx. 4.0 GB
- run through Spruce-up to create the video_ts folder (with all the .vob files etc.)
- burn the DVD with Gear Pro DVD
I have backed up Barbershop with CloneAD, but haven't had the time to do the other steps yet.My system:
Abit Ic7G
P4 3.0C @ 3.98 GHz
2x512 MB DDR 500 ram
WinXP Pro
ATI Radeon X800pro
5x120 GB Western Digital ata100

You shouldn't have to reencode barbershop as the file is under 4.0 gb. but when I load the m2v and ac3 files in meastro it cuts the video off at 1hr 27mins and the Audio runs to 1hr 42 mins. The movie should be 1hr 42mins. I can play in windvd or wmp and the ending is all there it just want load the whole thin Maestro. I 'm going to try cloneAd. thanx for advise. btw the only reason i was reencoding was to attempt to fix the m2v fill.

RE: Barber Shop, it's around 250 mb to large for a straight flip an rip with out edit or re-encoding and I too am having difficulties with B/U. I keep getting a sync problem via TMPEenc (very strange), that I have not been able to overcome as of yet. The method listed has worked hundreds of times in past but so far so bad with Barber Shop. just my .02 cents... I was able to backup this dvd but for some reason the combination of the m2v file and the ac3 file I have is less than 4.3 gig but like a lot of people are saying, it cuts off the last 15 mins of the movie at the end..what I ended up doing even the file is small, I ended up transcoding the vob files to get an m2v file using TMPGenc.. I don't remember if I run the ac3 file in the delay corrector so the audio and video is in sync...then I author it using spruce ..
hope this helps -
Yeah, it's just a bit too big for a single DVD.

My question is:
How can I edit the VOB (just to cut off some of the opening credits and ending credits) so I can make this fit? I don't want to make any other changes to the menu structure. Anyone?http://encoding.n3.net <-- for all your DVD and CD backup needs! -
I have back-up Barbershop sucessfully. Here's my method
1. Rip with Smartripper.
2. Reencode with Remepg.
3. Author with Spuce-up.
4.Delete lay file from VIDEO_TS.
5.Burn with Nero.:

I backed it up with DVDXCOPY. No menu or special features, but all the lingos and subtites.
-
this movie was simple as pie to backup. Why would ANY of you try to reencode or use Maestro? All you have to do is use IFOEdit and strip out the extra audio and subtitle tracks, and burn. It's that simple. No reason to use Maestro. Just rip the main PGC to your hard drive and do what I mentioned above. It is super simple.
-
I got it with subtitles and languages. Does DVDXCOPY have a different process that would otherwise allow this?

I have successfully backed up Barbershop. I ripped with DVD Decryptor (All Files), stripped out everything except for English 6ch audio using IfoEdit, then burned using Record Now Max 4.5. I had a few problems when I ripped only the main movie with DVD Decryptor so then I re-ripped All Files and it worked fine.
-
I used DVD2One and it did it, no problems or pixelating, and it only took 12 minutes.
-
I have figured this one out. Ream my thread:

Barbershop is a PIECE OF CAKE! I backed this movie up a month ago or so. As far as "Maestro" cutting your movie off..I SINCERELY DOUBT THAT...what is more likely the problem..SmartRipper! I posted a topic about this a week ago..SmartRipper has a tendency IN MANY cases, NOT ALL...but MANY...TO CUT THE LAST FEW MINUTES or more of a movie off. I DO NOT use SmartRipper for Stream Processing.
Now, if this is the region 1 NTSC version of Barbershop...all these methods ARE NOT NECESSARY! All you have to do is use IFOEdit like I did. NO REENCODING, NO AUTHORING...NOTHING. Just rip the main movie vob set, or the entire disk..it really doesn't matter. Just rip that to your hard drive...open up IFOEdit and select the main movie .IFO file. Strip out the extra languages and audio tracks...FBI warnings..that type of the thing...and the output WILL be LESS then 4.37 GB's. I watched my backup the same day I burned it, and it played flawlessly. Good Luck -
I have sucessfully backed up BARBERSHOP using DVDDecrypter, DVD2ONE, and NERO EXPRESS to burn to dvd

yep those are the tools you need to make a perfect back up. -

It's NOT smartripper. I have tried both dvd decryptor and smartripper many times with this movie and always get the same results. As far as the m2v file is concerned the whole video is actually there just Maestro doesn't import it correctly, but media player will play the whole thing to the end.
I have also backed up Barbershop using Ifoedit, NO PROBLEM. I already posted to this thread about a month ago with my results, but this was an update because I WANTED to re-author the movie.
Don't sincerely doubt anything, I speak from my own experience and this is what I have come up with. Others too had the problem with Maestro cutting the movie to 1:27 for the video.
SLICK RICK and ghoster
I'm sure DVD2ONE works fine, just like my method of Ifoedit did, the problem was with the authoring.

dcpro, did I mention your name in any of my posts? If I did then I damn sure don't remember doing so. My response was not directed at you, it was directed at ANYONE who wants to backup this movie and do so VERY SIMPLE. I backed the movie up over two months ago now, as my original post is linked to the Barbershop thread below. Don't tell me about sincerely doubting anything because SMARTRIPPER does have a PROBLEM with Stream Processing. Read some threads and find out. Or actually, continue to use it for Stream Processing...that would be much better.
If It does NOT have the issue with this movie and it's something to do with Maestro, then that's an oddity, because I have never seen Maestro not fully import the .M2V files of a movie. However, I have read the thread and it does seem as though there may be an issue with this movie. The problems with Stream Processing in Smart Ripper are much more common and out of ten movies, three of them were cut short by as little as 30 seconds, or as many as 8 minutes. DVD Decryptor and DVD2DVDR ripped the FULL .M2V.
Either way, the person who started this thread wanted to know HOW TO BACK BARBERSHOP UP. Not how to AUTHOR WITH "YOUR" METHOD. Authoring is NOT needed with this movie and IT'S A WASTE OF TIME to author this particular movie. If a person wants to author a 3 GB movie, then that's their business...BUT cchitson11 said they tried SEVERAL methods and couldn't back this movie up...I gave them the MOST SIMPLE, EASIEST way to backup that movie. -
ACTUALLY, the person who started this thread CLEARLY stated "Smartripper and Dvd decrypter to demux and author with Dvd Maestro", I was trying to help them out with the authoring part.
What might be the easiest and quickest is not always the best way. Ifoedit is ok, but has authoring and stripping problems, thats why I choose to re-author all movies I backup. There have been movies that I have stripped with Ifoedit, but didn't play in my player (JVC 7 disk changer), but then when I reauthored the m2v and ac3, it played fine. To me and my experience, re-authoring is more compatible than stripping. But that's my preference and I'm not telling anyone else to follow, just giving them options.
Also, I NEVER said anything about smartripper not having the stream processing problems you stated. I said that this wasn't the issue in my case.
We are all here to help and find answers to our problems. Thanks.
