  1. I am new to the DVD creation process. I have been reading a lot about it in these forums and on the web, but I still have a few questions:
    1. Many DVD creation programs do not mention the ability to create selectable subtitles. Is this because the basic ones (bundled with DVD writers) are unable to? I am specifically wondering about MyDVD, which seems to be a favorite right now. Is the only choice professional apps, like ReelDVD?
    2. Is it possible to create selectable subtitles that will be available in a stand alone DVD player? I have not seen relevant references to this subject in these forums (after using the search function and following the links).
    3. When creating a DVD that needs to be used in both PAL and NTSC formats, do seperate projects need to be created, or can different DVDs be authored from a single project? Or am I totally off and it is a single format read by all players?

The specific project in question is a family history that will be in two languages and require the ability to select one of two subtitles with either language or have subtitles off. The project has already been created by someone else using Premier, and will most likely require multiple DVDs (3 hours 20 minutes of video, plus wanting to add additional material).

I will appreciate any information and help you can provide.

  2. I am also interested in any free/inexpensive tools (less than the $900 that ReelDVD seems to cost) that can accomplish this.

    Thanks.
