I have a DVD that is 2 hours long and has no extras (except for additional subtitles, audio tracks and a short intro). The dvd size is 8GB with 8 VOBs. (See screenshot 1) However, when I look at one of eight VOBs on Gspot, the bit rate looks way too small, and the length of the VOB isn't right (should be about 120minutes/eight).
(See screenshot 2).
My question is: Why is Gspot giving me such wrong information?
I used DVD Shrink to copy this 8GB DVD to a 4 GB disk. The copy seems fine. However, would it have been better to use something like DVD Rebuilder to copy this disk?

vobs do not have to contain consecutive video. the ifos contain data that can shift playback around. the only way to get an accurate read on what's in the dvd would be to convert the whole thing to one mpeg-2 and check it with gspot or mediainfo. vob2mpeg can do that for you.

shrink is excellent to use for small reductions in size, but for anything over 20% i always use dvdrb and cce. dvdrb at that point gives a very noticeable improvement in video quality. that one for sure would benefit from it.--
