I've noticed that when I use either DVD Decryptor or Smart Ripper to rip a DVD-5, my speeds are incredibley fast. I usually get up to about 14.5x and rip an entire 4.37 GB in less then five minutes. But when I rip a DVD-9, EVEN if I just rip the main movie files, and they are less then 4.37 GB'S, I get fast speeds, sometimes up to 12x or so, but it's usually constant at around 8x. I have noticed this time and time again, so I was just wondering why a DVD-5 at about 4.37 GB'S would rip so much faster EVERY TIME, at least for me, then a DVD-9's main movie file set.
I am very happy with the speeds both ways, so this is just a "curious" question. If someone would let me know the answer, I would appreciate it. Thanks
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Probably because on DVD9 you have two layers to read and not only 1 like DVD5. But it's just a guess.
