  1. Hi,

I download a SVCD (Mpeg) off the net that is 795 MB. When played in PowerDVD it is 21 min and 52 sec. According to Nero the duration is 79 min. When I try to burn it, Nero says the size of the disk is too small, please insert another medium.

    Whats wrong?

I am using TDK 80 min. and 700 MB CD-R's.

700MB CDR. 795MB MPEG file. Geez, I wonder what the problem is

I would chop the file into 2 halves. Or if there are credits or something on the file, cut them out... may fit on the disc then.

  4. In theory you should be able to fit a SVCD file of up to 800mb in size. I had a similar problem some time ago with a SVCD that was abut that same size, I did a little research and it seems that the problem had something to do with the size of the data pakets or something like that, I really don't remeber the technical details but the solution was to remux the file with tmpgenc using the appropiate SVCD data tipe, which in my case was MPEG2 SVCD(VBR), really don't know if it would also work if the file is CBR. hope this help

  7. If Nero says the svcd is 79min then it's probably a couple megs too big. de-multiplex the video in TMPEG and compress the audio a little more then multiplex it back, that should give you plenty of space.

Okay there are some really dumb ideas in this thread.

first off- if you burn an mpeg as VCD or SVCD you can burn up to 800mb (815Mb w/ overburn) on a 700MB disc b/c your burning in mode2.

If your using nero be sure to select VideoCd or SuperVCD and turn off the compliance. And if nero says its 79minuts its not too big. Just make sure to have overburn turned on and set to like 82 minutes. Now burn and enjoy your movie. No need to do anything else.

  9. Actaully the length of the video is only 59 min. and 59 sec. In Windows explorer, when i view the file it says 814,783 KB. when i Go into proerties it says 795 MB (834,336,916 bytes).

    SLBOSS926,

I still cant get it to work, even with compliance off and overburn on at 82 min.

Is there another program i can try?

  10. I have a further problem. The file I am downloading is an SVCD in bin format and is 822 meg so it may come in a bit large. I will try to use any/all of the ideas here to burn a CD...BUT..my Sony DVD player may not run SVCDs...Is there a point somewhere in the process where I could use tmpgenc or somesuch to change it to vcd before/as I burn ?....
and ..what about the 822 meg..that is larger than the 815 which was addressed above
    thanks
