  1. Hello All,
I wasn't sure where to post this question to, so here goes.
I have a DVD (of a concert) that I want to copy the audio to CD audio (so that I can listen to it in the car and whatnot). I can't find a simple program to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

    TIA,
    Mike

  2. well not sure what is the fastest way but this will work. i would rip the audio file using smart ripper or dvd decrypter. click on stream processing and demux to extra file. then run TMPGEnc and go to mpeg tools and convert the ac3 file to mpeg. now you will have to encode the audio. i think it makes it to a mpa file. once that is done you could try dBpowerAMP Music Converter that will convert it to mp3. all you have to do now is burn it using some sort of software that burns mp3 to cds....

I don't think that there is a single simple program to do it.

Once you extract the AC3 you don't need to convert it to MPEG or any of that other stuff. You can use besweet to convert the AC3 to a 44.1kHz WAV file, which you should be able to burn to CD with any audio CD burning program.

The down side is that you may end up with one AC3 file for the entire DVD, in which case you'd have to cut it in some way. I think if you use smartripper it may be able to extract one chapter at a time (which probably corresponds to one song at a time), but I'm not sure.

  4. ok, what i would do is rip the whole dvd using smart ripper or dvd decrypter (use stream mode if you want but it may be easier for you if you just rip the whole damn thing). once that is done use dvd2avi and load the *.vob files and go to Audio->Channel Format->Linear PCM then go to File->Save Project then select where you want it to go and hit save. now....if the whole thing is in 1 big *.wav file i sugest using ner wave editor (comes with most versions of nero) you can download it from www.nero.com as a trial version. in wave editor load up the file and it will create a peak file (a visual display of the audio file for editing) and just select the bits you dont want and press and hold Shift+Delete (dont hold too long or it will delete another area that is selected) if you want it to be fairly smooth you can do fade in's and fade out's of the areas you select. then all you have toi do is File->Save As and save in the file format of you choice and burn to a cd (nero is best for simple audio cd's)

  5. Thanks a lot guys! t worked!
What i did was use DVD Decrypter to make one large VOB file.
Next I used BeSweet (it's a strange little collection of programs) to pull the AC3 date from the big VOB file.
The AC3 was then converted to a WAV file (by anohter progam associated with BeSweet). This gave me a single, large WAV file.
I used CD WAVE to split the show into multiple WAV files (each song).
Finally used Nero to put it all together on a CD-R.

Over all it was a huge pain in the butt, and I wouldn't recomend doing it except for extreme circumstances, but it can be done.

Thanks for all of your help,
    Mike

Usually inthe concert DVD's, each chapter is a new song. I usually just rip chapter by chapter and avod having to cut a huge wav into a bunch of smaller ones.
