  1. I am going on a 14 hour car trip with the kids. I have a laptop with a 20 gig hard drive but no dvd drive. I was thinking of ripping some dvds on my desktop and transfering them to the laptop for the kids to watch on the trip. I want to do this in the min. number of steps. What do you think?

Rip the DVD, copy the files to your laptop, install DVD software on your laptop, (you may get an error if the software can't find a DVD Player but you might be able to continue), select FILE mode from the DVD software and browse to the files you ripped earlier and copied to the laptop. That should work.

Good luck...14 hours? Are we there yet? How 'bout now?

Yes. PowerDVD is a good choice. As is WinDVD.
